In his statements, Akande emphasized that tackling corruption shouldn’t be the primary focus in Nigeria, cautioning that one might face dire consequences. He pointed out the historical failure of successive administrations in effectively combating corruption.

Expressing dismay over the reluctance to embrace diligent work, the founding Interim National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) highlighted how many Nigerians opt for shortcuts while placing blame on the government.

He went on to assert that until there is a shift in the mindset of Nigerians towards qualities such as commitment and hard work, no leader will successfully confront and overcome corruption in the country.

Akande stated, “In Nigeria, fighting corruption shouldn’t be the top priority, or else you risk facing severe consequences. The prevailing mindset is corrupted.

“A person seeking prosperity through miraculous means is corrupt. If you aim to acquire a car or a house miraculously, you are already engaging in corrupt practices.

“In a society where everyone embraces corruption, who among the leaders will take the bold step to address it?

“Hence, merely blaming the leaders is inadequate when the populace is inherently corrupt. Even within religious circles, there is a pervasive desire for comfort without putting in the necessary work.

“The current generation exhibits an aversion to hard work, aspiring for everything through miraculous means. In such a community, prosperity remains elusive, and no leader can usher in prosperity without a collective commitment to change.
