According to reliable sources, the rescue team is actively working to retrieve the remaining two bodies, believed to be those of children.

The incident involved a wooden fishing boat carrying 25 passengers from Ngo Town, the headquarters of Andoni LGA, to Amariaria, a fishing settlement in Finima community of Bonny local government area. The owner and driver of the boat, Pastor Festus Iyayi, endured the heartbreaking loss of four of his children and a grandchild in the mishap.

In the wake of this tragedy, Bonny local government area’s chairman, Dame Anengi Barasua Claude-Wilcox, expressed her condolences to the Andoni community residing in Bonny LGA. During a condolence visit to the families of the deceased in Amariaria fishing settlement in Finima community, Claude-Wilcox, represented by her deputy, Wariopusenibo Omoni Longjohn, commended the leadership and residents of the Amariaria settlement for their supportive efforts towards the affected families.

She fervently prayed that such unfortunate incidents would not recur and extended heartfelt wishes for the departed souls to find eternal rest with the Lord.
