Gambia Coach Saintfiet Offers Insight Into Nigeria’s Potential 2023 AFCON Final Presence Details

The Belgian strategist acknowledged the strength of North African teams in the 34th edition but pointed out that the weather conditions in Ivory Coast would not be favorable to them.
Saintfiet explained, “The Egyptian national team has a very strong lineup and is a contender for the title, much like Algeria, Morocco, and even Tunisia.
“However, I don’t believe that a team from North Africa will clinch the title in West Africa due to the high humidity, temperature, different stadiums, and distinct conditions.
“I am of the opinion that a team from West Africa will secure this title. I see Senegal as consistently strong, along with Mali, which has the potential to be a formidable team. However, my prediction is that the final will feature Ivory Coast and Nigeria.
“In my view, Nigeria is exceptionally strong, but Ivory Coast, being strong and playing on home soil, is also a significant factor, as is the Malian national team.”
It’s worth noting that the Super Eagles of Nigeria will kick off their campaign in the 2023 AFCON in Group A against Equatorial Guinea.
Meanwhile, Tom Saintfiet, who once made an attempt to coach Nigeria, will initiate his campaign with the Gambian team in Group C, facing Senegal on Monday, January 15.
