Following Edu’s suspension over corruption allegations by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reports surfaced claiming that Tunji-Ojo paid the mentioned sum to a company owned by the Minister of Interior for consultancy services.

Tunji-Ojo, responding to these allegations during an appearance on Channels TV Politics Today on Monday night, stated that he founded the company a decade ago but resigned from directorship in 2019 when he contested for the House of Representatives.

Expressing shock at the report, the Minister emphasized that he was not involved in the day-to-day operations of New Planet Project Limited. He clarified, “I resigned my directorship… in 2019, with a Certified True Copy of Corporate Affairs Commission as far back as 2019 to prove this.”

The controversy surrounding Betta Edu centers on a leaked memo dated 20th December 2023, instructing the Federation’s Accountant General to transfer funds meant for vulnerable groups into a private account.
