In a statement released on Tuesday, the Onikoyi Royal Family expressed dismay and incredulity at the Dosunmu branch’s presentation of two factional candidates for the Obaship stool. The family called on the public and the Lagos State government to disregard the alleged charades leading to their emergence.

The family maintained that Prince Abdul Waliu Omogbolahan Oladimeji Sulaimon is the authentic candidate, selected in accordance with the Onikoyi Chieftaincy Declaration of 2006, still in force and recognized by various courts of competent jurisdiction.

Accusing the Dosunmu branch of a proclivity for illegality and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, the Onikoyi Royal Family urged the Eti-Osa Local Government Chieftaincy Committee and the Lagos State Government to uphold the law. They emphasized that any deviation from the provisions of the 2006 Declaration would be deemed illegal and tarnish the integrity of the state government’s executive arm.

The press statement, signed by Prince Abdul Akeem Animashaun on behalf of the family and titled ‘Onikoyi stool: Prince Abdul Waliu Oladimeji Sulaimon remains the authentic Oba-elect,’ emphasized the family’s commitment to the law and called for the preservation of the peace in Ikoyi and Moba Land.

The family appealed to political leaders, including the President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu, to uphold the law and protect traditional institutions. They sought the Oba of Lagos’ intervention as the permanent chairman of the Obas & Chiefs Council in Lagos State. The family urged collective efforts to defend democracy by preserving laws and safeguarding traditional institutions from degradation.

CASH REVOLUTION: Sowore Fires Fresh Salvo, Demands ₦500k Minimum Wage To Save Nigerian Workers!

The African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has called for an increase in the salary of Nigerian workers.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

He asserted that workers should be paid ₦500,000 monthly. News reports that he shared his thoughts in a statement posted on his verified handle on Friday.

The human rights activist charged Nigerians to vote for leaders who genuinely want the betterment of Nigerian workers, not those who have consistently treated workers as enemies.

His remark stems from the ₦500,000 new minimum wage demand by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).

Both unions made the demand at the Nigeria Rights of Workers Summit held on Thursday in Birnin Kebbi, the capital of Kebbi State.

Reacting, Sowore said, “Oh finally! It is encouraging that the leadership of the NLC and TUC have finally arrived at the same position the African Action Congress adopted long ago.

“Nigerian workers deserve a national minimum wage of no less than N500,000. The demand is both necessary and long overdue in the face of the country’s economic realities and soaring cost of living.

“Now that there is consensus, the focus must shift from declarations to action. Let’s unite and fight until Nigerian workers receive a living wage of at least ₦500,000.”
