Orlu Local Government Area. The joint task force, comprising police and army personnel, carried out the operation on Monday, recovering a cache of arms and ammunition belonging to the criminal group. During the raid, a suspected member of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the armed wing of IPOB, was arrested.

The operation was prompted by recent kidnappings, including those of a Federal Road Safety Corps officer, Sabinus Ugwuebu, and the former chairman of Imo traditional rulers, Eze Samuel Ohiri.

Items seized included guns, live cartridges, military uniforms, motorcycles, explosives, and FRSC uniforms belonging to the kidnapped officer.

The state Commissioner for Police, Aboki Danjuma, reaffirmed the commitment to collaborative efforts with the military and other security agencies to eradicate crime in the state. Investigations are ongoing, and the arrested suspects will be brought to court once the process is complete.
