NMDPRA reported that its surveillance officers closed down Saismo General Merchants Limited in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, for unlawfully selling Liquefied Natural Gas. A video shared by the agency displayed an unfinished building housing a gas station, captioned, ‘Surveillance officers of the authority sealed Saismo General Merchants Ltd. Yola Road, Jalingo, Taraba State. It was sealed because the company was illegally carrying out LPG operations.’
Similarly, NMDPRA disclosed the closure of Udeking Oil & Gas Nigeria Limited along the Owerri/Aba Road, Naze, Imo State, for operating without a valid license. In December, the regulatory body had previously sealed Oxkings Petroleum Limited in Imo State for under-dispensing of PMS by 470mls on every litre.
Responsible for regulating midstream and downstream petroleum operations in Nigeria, NMDPRA oversees technical, operational, and commercial activities. It resulted from the merger of three former regulatory agencies: the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, the Petroleum Equalisation Fund (Management) Board, and the Midstream and Downstream Divisions of the Department of Petroleum Resources.
Nivo News Online also reported that NMDPRA took decisive action against an illegal gas outlet in Warri metropolis, Delta State, locating it within a residential building at Lower Axis, Warri South Local Government Area. The regulatory authority apprehended the operator, who had removed the seal previously placed on his facility, and handed him over to the Nigeria Police for prosecution.
