Okediji recounted on December 12 that he was stopped for a search, asked for a settlement fee of $40 due to an expired Nigerian passport, and later discovered that $500 was missing from his belongings.
In response to these allegations, Aridegbe Adedotun, the NIS spokesperson, announced on Saturday that the agency would be implementing changes at the borders to enhance operational efficiency. Caroline Adepoju, the NIS Comptroller-General, revealed that the Minister of Interior expressed displeasure with the reported unprofessional activities at the Seme border and has called for immediate action to identify those responsible.
