Emmanuel Egwudike, the Coordinator of Ohanaeze All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Group, commended the governor’s consistent support for non-indigenes and widows during Christmas and New Year celebrations, a tradition initiated in 2020. He highlighted that Zulum’s administration consistently aids the most vulnerable, ensuring their ability to travel during festive periods.
Egwudike stated, “Due to hardship and economic situations, as well as subsidy removal and an increase in transportation, a lot of families wouldn’t be able to get themselves to celebrate Christmas in their state without this gesture from Zulum’s administration.”
The initiative has been well-received, with over 630 families benefiting from the opportunity to travel home and celebrate Christmas, fostering a sense of unity and appreciation among non-indigenes in the state.
Abraham Kaanti, President of the Tiv Community in the state, lauded the governor’s love for the downtrodden and less privileged, emphasizing that the gesture provided hope for those who had lost the means to travel home for the festivities.
Chief Saka Ganiyu Abiodun, speaking on behalf of the Yoruba Constituency, expressed gratitude to Governor Zulum for the initiative, noting the governor’s reputation for alleviating the suffering of the people. The beneficiaries were selected based on vulnerability, particularly those who wished to go home but faced financial constraints.
