“The recent interventions by the President in resolving political crises in Rivers and Ondo States once again showcase his dedication to national unity and development. This is the mark of a leader who prioritizes the well-being of his people. Democracy is not just about occupying a position of power but also about demonstrating the courage and fairness to tackle challenges head-on.
“President Tinubu’s successful resolution of the political dispute between Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and the immediate past Governor, Nyesom Wike, highlights his statesmanship and commitment to peace. In a situation where another leader might have let political flames engulf an opposition-controlled state like Rivers, Mr. President took swift action to find a solution.
“The meeting held at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, which resulted in commendable resolutions, underscores President Tinubu’s determination to promote dialogue, reconciliation, and cooperation among political stakeholders for the greater good of the nation.
“President Tinubu’s proactive approach in resolving the prolonged crisis between factions loyal to Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), and his Deputy, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, reflects his strong commitment to ensuring harmony and progress at the state level. His ability to bring together conflicting parties and facilitate constructive dialogue has averted potential turmoil and paved the way for a renewed focus on governance and development in Ondo State.
“The President’s timely interventions highlight his genuine concern for the welfare of the people and the need for a conducive political environment that fosters growth, prosperity, and sustainable development. His actions demonstrate that he is a unifying figure prioritizing the well-being of all Nigerians and seeking to build a stronger, more cohesive nation.
“As a leader with a proven track record of fostering peace and stability, President Tinubu’s efforts underscore his vision for a united and prosperous Nigeria. We commend his dedication to promoting dialogue, understanding, and collaboration as essential pillars for national progress.
“We also commend the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, His Excellency Nyesom Wike, for displaying maturity in the face of insults and threats from those seeking to capitalize on the crisis in Rivers State. Wike has once again proven himself as a leader of repute and a committed appointee of President Tinubu who wants the President to succeed.
“The immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has also shown loyalty and commitment to President Tinubu. His attitude towards peace is crucial for development.
“The two factions in Ondo State also deserve commendation for complying with the resolution to pave the way for the restoration of harmony and the continuation of governance.
“We call on all other stakeholders to emulate President Tinubu’s spirit of statesmanship and work towards peaceful coexistence, cooperation, and progress in our beloved nation.”

Wadada Endorsement Divides APC As Power Struggle Intensifies In Nasarawa.
A political disagreement has emerged within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State following Governor Abdullahi Sule’s reported endorsement of Senator Aliyu Wadada as his preferred successor ahead of the 2027 governorship election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, the move has sparked tension between the governor and his predecessor, Umar Tanko Al-Makura, who faulted the decision, describing it as premature and not properly consulted within party structures.
Al-Makura, a prominent figure in the state’s political landscape, expressed displeasure that he only became aware of the endorsement through media reports. He argued that the decision should have involved wider consultation, warning that such early endorsements could undermine internal party processes.
He further noted that the APC had not begun its formal nomination process, insisting that declaring support for a candidate at this stage was inappropriate and ahead of schedule.
The controversy was further heightened by former Inspector-General of Police, Muhammad Adamu, who is also aspiring for the APC governorship ticket. He rejected the endorsement, stating that no individual has the authority to impose a candidate, and reaffirmed his intention to contest in the party primaries.
In response, Governor Sule, through his media aide, defended the endorsement, stating that it was consistent with political traditions in the state. He referenced past succession arrangements, including Al-Makura’s own endorsement of him, arguing that the current process was in line with established practice but being conducted more transparently.
The governor’s camp clarified that Senator Wadada remains a preferred aspirant and not the party’s official candidate.
Senator Wadada, reacting to the development, called for calm among party members, describing the situation as part of normal political competition. He also downplayed tensions with other aspirants, noting that the contest should be seen as a democratic process.
Meanwhile, support for Adamu continues to grow in parts of Nasarawa South, where youths, women, and stakeholders have openly backed his ambition, alongside broader endorsements for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Adamu, however, maintained that he remains firmly in the race, accusing some political actors of inconsistency in the unfolding succession dynamics.

Succession Battle Heats Up As Makinde Prepares To Name Preferred Candidate.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has indicated that residents may have to wait until May before knowing his preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election, as political consultations within the state continue.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, the governor disclosed that he would publicly unveil his chosen successor before the end of the first week of May, following extensive consultations with key stakeholders across the state.
Makinde explained that the selection process has involved wide engagements with elders, religious leaders, and other influential figures, noting that while several aspirants have emerged, no final decision has been reached.
He added that the choice of a candidate is a sensitive responsibility that requires broad acceptance and careful consideration to maintain political stability and continuity in the state.
The governor also dismissed speculations suggesting that he had already endorsed any individual, stressing that no aspirant has been officially anointed for the race.
Makinde further noted that the direction of his political decision, including the platform on which the party will contest, may depend on the outcome of a pending Supreme Court ruling affecting the Peoples Democratic Party.
He stated that the ruling is expected to provide clarity on internal party matters, which could influence his final decision regarding the 2027 governorship election.

APC Considers Direct Primaries As Power Struggle Deepens Ahead Of 2027 Elections.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is reportedly considering the use of direct primaries in some states ahead of the 2027 general elections as internal disagreements and failed consensus negotiations continue to create tension within the party.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
among stakeholders and difficulties in reaching agreements on consensus candidates in several states. It was gathered that the party may adopt direct primaries in areas where consensus arrangements prove unworkable.
This development comes as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline for political parties to submit candidate lists draws closer. In response, the APC is said to be finalising preparations to release its timetable for primary elections covering presidential, governorship, and National Assembly contests.
Party insiders disclosed that the proposed timetable has already been reviewed by the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, and presented to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who has reportedly given his approval. The schedule is expected to be officially unveiled soon.
While consensus candidates have reportedly been agreed upon in Lagos, Oyo, and Ogun States, discussions are still ongoing in several other states where agreement has not been reached, particularly those governed by second-term governors.
Findings indicate that the party is still struggling to conclude consensus arrangements in states such as Nasarawa, Kwara, Adamawa, Yobe, and Bauchi. There are also indications that President Tinubu may intervene to help resolve disputes in some of these states.
A senior party source explained that consultations are still ongoing, but emphasized that consensus cannot be imposed where disagreements persist. According to the source, incumbent governors are being given priority in selecting their successors, but unresolved conflicts may necessitate direct primaries.
Another APC official noted that while governors who recently joined the party may influence succession decisions, other stakeholders will still have input, particularly in legislative nominations, though arrangements differ across states.
The source further added that the party is determined to avoid internal crises that could lead to defections or anti-party activities, stressing that direct primaries may be adopted as a more transparent and democratic alternative where consensus fails.
