A former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has disclosed the orchestrated efforts by former Governors Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun, and Salihu Lukman, ex-national vice chairman, North-west, to oust him from his position within the ruling party….CONTINUE READING....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Oshiomhole shared the details of his clash with the party’s governors during the launch of “APC and Transition Politics,” a book authored by Salihu Lukman, in Abuja on Tuesday.

He narrated how Lukman and certain governors led a campaign to unlawfully remove him, asserting that they employed various illicit tactics to undermine his authority when he sought to establish party supremacy.

Lamenting Lukman’s dismissal of his leadership through written communications without direct engagement, Oshiomhole criticized the undemocratic appointment of Lukman by the governors’ forum. He revealed that attempts to convene a meeting were rebuffed, with the governors insisting on an unconventional venue.

Oshiomhole highlighted the military-like atmosphere during the meeting and asserted his experience as a two-term governor, challenging Fayemi’s failed re-election bid and countering allegations that he served the interests of political figures in Lagos.

He quoted the Ogun State governor expressing his intent to leave the party if not for the president’s influence, and criticized others for accusing him of allegiance to political figures in Lagos.

Beyond The Reach Of Power: Omole Reveals Why State Police Won’t Be Tinubu’s Rigging Tool.

Published

on

Charles Omole, the Director-General of the Institute for Police and Security Policy Research (IPSPR), has rejected claims that President Bola Tinubu is advocating for state police to manipulate the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Logistical Impossibility: Omole stated that it is practically impossible to establish functional state police services before the next general election, citing the complex constitutional, legal, and operational processes involved.

  • Debunking Rigging Allegations: He argued that the theory of using state police to rig elections is illogical, noting that it would be far simpler for a President to utilize a single police force already under their control rather than creating and managing 36 separate state police services.

  • Strategic Objectives: Omole suggested that the President’s primary goal is likely to finalize the legal framework for state policing during his current term, ensuring a smooth transition to implementation should he win a second term.

  • Need for Reform: He emphasized the necessity of a federal technical team to properly redesign policing, warning that merely replicating the current Nigeria Police structure at the state level—without addressing jurisdictional and operational challenges—could exacerbate existing security issues.

The proposed legislation, which has passed through the House and Senate, aims to amend Section 214 of the Constitution to formally establish both federal and state police services.
