He emphasized that in the contemporary landscape, a nation cannot progress without a workforce equipped with relevant skills. Dr. Ogun underscored the significance of technical and vocational skills training as a pivotal platform for driving comprehensive socio-economic development.
Expressing concern over Nigeria’s challenges arising from a lack of pertinent skills, the Director-General highlighted the adverse impacts, including escalating insecurity and poverty. He positioned skills development at the core of developmental initiatives and outlined ITF’s ongoing efforts, such as the TSDP and AgSEP, to provide training for Nigerian youths.
Dr. Ogun urged the program beneficiaries to effectively apply the acquired skills, emphasizing that doing so would enable them to be self-employed and creators of job opportunities.
