In a letter sent through its lawyers, Chief Chris Uche (SAN) & Co., the party said Anyanwu ceased to hold any position in the PDP following a ruling by the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory on January 12, 2026.

The PDP explained that its Disciplinary Committee had earlier recommended his expulsion over alleged anti-party activities, a decision later approved by the party leadership.

Although Anyanwu has appealed the judgment, the party argued that the appeal does not suspend the ruling, insisting it remains valid until overturned by a higher court.

The PDP faulted INEC for continuing to recognise him, describing it as contrary to the court’s decision, and urged the commission to remove his name from all official records and cease further dealings with him as National Secretary.

It warned that failure to comply could lead to legal consequences, including contempt proceedings, while urging INEC to act promptly to avoid further controversy.

Speaking to journalists, he explained that he only gets involved in situations where he believes someone is being treated unjustly, and withdraws once that situation changes.

According to him, his intervention is always focused on defending people facing oppression or unfair treatment, and once that issue is resolved, he moves on to other matters.

Sowore also stated that there are certain people he would never turn against—especially those he has previously supported in the struggle for rights and freedom. He said he would not engage in conflict with such individuals, even if disagreements arise later.

Reaffirming his long-standing activist position, he said his mission has always been to help others secure their freedom, adding that his commitment to that cause remains unchanged.
