In response to widespread rumors, the party, through a statement issued by its chairman, Prince Abdullahi Abbas, labeled the speculations as “untrue and frivolous.”

Abbas disclaimed assertions that the APC had made a deal to relinquish its legal arguments in return for Governor Yusuf’s victory and subsequent defection to the APC. Additionally, the party dismissed suggestions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu holding clandestine meetings or interfering in the case to secure Governor Yusuf’s position.

The statement emphasized President Tinubu’s commitment to the rule of law, stating that he would not be part of any arrangement to undermine justice or support electoral malpractice.

Abbas reiterated the APC’s dedication to pursuing its legal challenge at the Supreme Court, expressing confidence in the presented evidence. “We have concrete and convincing evidence presented at both the Tribunal and the Appeal Court, and we are confident of victory,” he affirmed.

Addressing concerns regarding potential unrest following the Supreme Court verdict, Abbas dismissed fears of tension in Kano. He stated that the people were content with the lower court rulings and eagerly awaited the Supreme Court’s confirmation. The chairman accused the NNPP of attempting to incite violence among youths but assured the public that the APC would strive to maintain peaceful relations with all ethnic nationalities in the state, irrespective of provocations.

The APC’s response comes amid heightened political tension in Kano after the Court of Appeal upheld the ruling of the Election Tribunal, which nullified Governor Yusuf’s victory and declared the APC candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, the legitimate winner of the March 18 election.
