The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) thwarted drug trafficking attempts at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, recovering 1.5 million pills of tramadol and Rohypnol destined for South Africa. Additionally, NDLEA operatives intercepted a cocaine consignment weighing 2.2kg on the Owerri-Onitsha Expressway. The drug, concealed in condoms, was en route from Lagos to Port Harcourt. A suspect, Isaac Okoh (45), has been arrested in connection with the seized cocaine.

In another operation, NDLEA agents recovered 100kg of Indian hemp hidden in the ceiling of a dealer, Ibrahim Yahaya (35), during a raid in Lafia. The agency also intercepted 1,496 bottles of codeine in Abuja, leading to the arrest of Ozioma Enoja (31). Additionally, 400 bottles of codeine were seized on the Abaji-Abuja Highway, and a suspect, Bala Ishaq, was apprehended.

In Edo, NDLEA operatives retrieved 17 bags of Indian hemp weighing 195.8kg from a bush in Gbanke village, Orhionmwon Local Government Area. Lastly, in Ogun, anti-narcotic officers arrested two suspects at the Alamutu Roundabout area of Abeokuta with 279kg of bags containing Indian hemp.

The appointments, which were announced through an official statement, are designed to drive the campaign’s “Reset Nigeria” agenda nationwide and secure victory at the polls. Hyat brings a wealth of political experience to the role, having previously served as the Minister of State for Aviation and as the Kaduna State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

To strengthen the operational backbone of the campaign, Governor Makinde also appointed former Minister of Women Affairs Hajia Inna Ciroma as the Deputy Director-General for Administration, alongside Dr. Anthony Aziegbemi as the Deputy Director-General for Operations. According to the campaign organization, this core leadership team combines extensive backgrounds in political administration, grassroots mobilization, and strategic planning.
