Just In: Senegalese Navy Seizes $210 Million Worth Of Cocaine-Major Offshore Operation
The Senegalese navy announced on Saturday that it had confiscated three tons of cocaine, valued at a minimum of $210 million, from a boat with a seven-member crew anchored off the coast. According to the navy’s statement on X (formerly Twitter), an offshore patrol vessel intercepted the boat in Senegal’s southern waters, approximately 425 kilometers (265 miles) from the shore, last Thursday….CONTINUE READING....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

On Saturday, both the vessel and its occupants were transported to a naval base in Dakar, the capital, though the identities of the crew were not disclosed. The seized drugs are estimated to be worth at least 126 billion CFA francs ($210 million).
This incident follows another announcement on November 28, where Senegal’s armed forces revealed the seizure of nearly three tons of cocaine from a separate vessel with a ten-member crew. These two operations have resulted in a total of six tons of class A drugs being confiscated by Senegal in less than three weeks. In January, the navy had discovered over 800 kilograms (1,760 pounds) of cocaine on a vessel close to Dakar.
While West and Central Africa were previously known as transit routes for drugs trafficked from Latin America to Europe, they have now evolved into significant centers of drug use, as reported by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
