Just In: Senegalese Navy Seizes $210 Million Worth Of Cocaine-Major Offshore Operation

The Senegalese navy announced on Saturday that it had confiscated three tons of cocaine, valued at a minimum of $210 million, from a boat with a seven-member crew anchored off the coast. On Saturday, both the vessel and its occupants were transported to a naval base in Dakar, the capital, though the identities of the crew were not disclosed. The seized drugs are estimated to be worth at least 126 billion CFA francs ($210 million).

This incident follows another announcement on November 28, where Senegal’s armed forces revealed the seizure of nearly three tons of cocaine from a separate vessel with a ten-member crew. These two operations have resulted in a total of six tons of class A drugs being confiscated by Senegal in less than three weeks. In January, the navy had discovered over 800 kilograms (1,760 pounds) of cocaine on a vessel close to Dakar.
