Just In: Minister Calls On Stakeholders To Enhance Performance For Increased Electricity Supply
The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has called on all stakeholders in the power sector to enhance their performance in order to improve electricity supply across the country. He highlighted that, upon accepting the appointment, he was required to sign a performance bond, and anyone hindering progress would face consequences. Adelabu stressed that the agencies within the power sector are not operating in isolation; they were established to expedite performance.
Adelabu pointed out that the existing policy in the power sector, dating back to 2001, is outdated and needs evaluation. He emphasized that the policies and agreements formulated during the retreat would support the transformation roadmap of the power sector, impacting all aspects from generation to distribution.
“This transformation will span the entire value chain of the power sector, from generation to distribution. From this retreat, we will develop a set of policies agreed upon by all industry operators to establish a sustainable and enduring framework for the sector,” he explained.
