Youth Empowerment: Anambra Lawmaker-Launches Football Project
Hon. The league, featuring 10 football teams from various communities in the constituency, commenced at the St. Philip’s Primary School Field in Ogidi with enthusiasm and celebration. In the inaugural match, Ogidi United secured victory with a three-goal lead.
Hon. Udemezue explained that his initiative to use football as a means to empower the youth stems from the belief that there are talented individuals capable of leveraging the sport for a better livelihood but lack the necessary opportunities. He sees football as a valuable tool for engaging youth in meaningful activities and aims to utilize his connections to promote talented players identified from the Idemili League to larger teams in Nigeria and beyond.
The lawmaker announced that the top three teams, along with individual distinctions such as the overall best player, highest goal scorer, and the best-disciplined team, will be rewarded with prizes, fostering a competitive and rewarding environment for participants.
