Nigerians React As Anambra Prepares For Large-Scale Demolition Of Shanties Ahead Of Christmas
The Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) has issued a directive instructing individuals selling or showcasing their merchandise along roads and streets in Awka to cease such activities immediately, warning that failure to comply will result in legal consequences….CONTINUE READING....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Mr. Ossy Onuko, the Manager and Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, conveyed this directive to the press in Awka. He expressed concern about the resurgence of street trading, particularly along the newly constructed roads in Awka by Governor Charles Soludo. Onuko highlighted that over the past year, his agency has been engaging with street traders who, he alleged, cause traffic obstruction and congestion in the city. He emphasized that the activities of these individuals have marred the visual appeal of the state government’s newly built roads.
The roads identified as hotspots for increased street trading include the dual carriage Unizik-Isuaniocha Road, Club Road, Regina Ceali Road, Old INEC Road, Government House Road, Aroma, Ifite Road, among others.
Mr. Onuko announced that, starting Friday, ACTDA officials will initiate a widespread removal of goods and merchandise found displayed along the roads. He advised those involved in this illegal practice to cease immediately, as the authority not only plans to seize but also destroy such goods as a deterrent to others. Offenders were warned to promptly remove their goods and services or face the consequences of their actions.
