Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, also the visitor to Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, has urged individuals and corporate entities to contribute to the university’s ambition of becoming the top state university in Nigeria. Represented by the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Mr Femi Agagu, the governor appealed to philanthropists, stakeholders, and prosperous community members to collaborate with the government in expanding infrastructure within educational institutions across the state.
Akeredolu acknowledged AAUA’s vision to be a leading research institution, praising recent research efforts by both staff and students. He emphasized the university’s role in training skilled personnel, contributing to the growth and development of the state and the nation.
Pro-Chancellor Dr Tunji Abayomi attributed the university’s progress to collaborative efforts, acknowledging the contributions of staff, host communities, and university leadership. Despite recent challenges, Abayomi highlighted the university’s resilience and determination to achieve its goals.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Olugbenga Ige congratulated the graduates, urging them to contribute significantly to their alma mater and society. He assured stakeholders of the university’s commitment to excellence and its aspiration to secure a prominent international position.
At the convocation, a total of 5,249 students received degrees, including 42 with first-class honors, 1,088 with second-class upper division, 2,264 with second-class lower division, and 605 with third class.
