Oshiomhole asserted that these foreign prisoners engaged in construction work in Nigeria are remunerated at the minimum wage rate of their respective countries. Consequently, he urged the minister to oversee and regulate the allocation of quotas to foreigners.
Expressing his concern, Oshiomhole stated, “Your ministry needs to meticulously regulate the issuance of quotas, as I have credible information that prisoners from foreign nations are employed in Nigeria as construction workers. Many non-Nigerians reside in the country, with some even living inside containers. Construction companies are compensating them based on the minimum wage of their home countries.”
He added a warning, saying, “I refrain from mentioning specific companies, but if provoked, I will disclose their names.”
