Just In: Accusations Fly As APC Legal Team Points To Alleged Unethical Conduct By NNPP Lawyers In Appeal Court Case (See Details)

Last week, lawyers identifying themselves as Counsels to the NNPP held a meeting in Kaduna, criticizing the Court of Appeal for what they deemed a miscarriage of justice in the judgment against Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.
In response, the APC Legal Team, speaking to reporters in Kano on Wednesday, condemned the NNPP lawyers’ actions, stating that their conduct violated legal norms and the principles of justice.
Secretary of the APC Legal Team, Hadiza Nasir Ahmad, along with Chairman Mustapha Idiris, cautioned against any attempts to tarnish the court’s reputation or resort to blackmail, asserting that such actions are unequivocally unacceptable.
They stated, “We implore the 200 lawyers entangled in this controversy to rise above political machinations and permit the court to execute its duties without external interference.”
Barrister Hadiza Nasir Ahmad emphasized the role of lawyers as guardians of justice, urging them to preserve the integrity of the noble profession even in the face of unfavorable judgments. She stated, “We should collectively champion the rules of law and uphold the dignified essence of the legal system.”
Expressing concern, the APC legal team alleged that the NNPP, its lawyers, and supporters are actively advocating for a demonstration to protest court decisions. They warned against such actions, suggesting that it might be an attempt to create chaos in the state and intimidate the court and judiciary.
Nevertheless, the APC Legal Team expressed confidence in the court’s unwavering commitment to conducting the case solely on its merit, undeterred by any such tactics.
Furthermore, the APC Legal Team commended the people of Kano for refusing to be swayed into unnecessary protests on the streets, noting the state’s reputation for being law-abiding.
