Iwuanyanwu expressed concerns that Ohanaeze might struggle to defend Igbos who violate construction laws in Lagos.

Speaking at a press conference, he revealed that the demolished houses were found to be in violation of land acquisition laws.

He stated, “On the demolition of houses of Igbos, the information I have from the government is that some of the houses are built on roads and drainage lines. We have to obey the laws of the land. Apply for approval from the government agency. Then you can be rest assured that Ohanaeze will defend you. But if you go on to build on drainage lines, and roads, you failed to abide by the law of the land and did not get approvals, it will be difficult to support you in any way.”

Iwuanyanwu also emphasized that Igbos played a crucial role in the development of modern Lagos State, being the “pioneers” and “heroes” who made previously inhospitable areas habitable.

“When Lagos became the federal capital, the development of such territory was a challenge in all countries. The Igbo forebearers, most of whom are dead today, rose to the challenge of that time. The challenge of that time was investment to make Lagos befitting as the federal capital territory. Igbos converted swampy lands to habitable places,” he stated.

According to him, the administration has already begun implementing reforms in the power sector, including policy decisions and new legislative measures aimed at improving electricity supply.

He maintained that progress is ongoing and that the focus should be on what has been achieved so far rather than expectations for future electoral outcomes.

Bwala added that Nigerians will ultimately decide at the appropriate time whether the president deserves another term based on his overall performance.

Reacting, Wike said investigations have already been launched into the matter and directed his Chief of Staff to identify any staff member involved in the alleged interference.

He stated: “We will not allow people to just wake up and say the FCT Minister did this or that. I have told my Chief of Staff to find out from the company which staff member interfered. We will get to the bottom of this.”

Meanwhile, Wike also commented on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s political ambitions, saying he would have to wait until 2031 to contest for the presidency.
