The lawyer insisted that adherence to constitutional provisions is essential for the complete restoration of governance in the state. Ondo State has been grappling with a political impasse, marked by the prolonged absence of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and attempts to impeach Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

In response to the crisis, Tinubu convened stakeholders at the Presidential Villa, resulting in resolutions aimed at restoring peace among the conflicting factions. Ajulo, however, expressed disapproval of a resolution that purportedly led to the establishment of a tripartite committee to manage the state’s affairs and enforce the agreed-upon resolutions, deeming the process unconstitutional.

The legal expert argued that if Governor Akeredolu’s incapacitation is proven, Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa should promptly be sworn in as the acting governor. He also highlighted the potential impact on the state’s 2024 fiscal year, cautioning that if the situation remains unaddressed, it could hinder the presentation of next year’s appropriation bill to the House of Assembly, leading to widespread hunger and poverty in the state.
