Anyanwu expressed criticism of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for alleged irregularities in the November 11 governorship election in the state. He accused the APC of orchestrating a “fratricidal war” against the people of Imo, describing the election as an “open rape of democracy” with various malpractices, intimidation, and violence.

Highlighting instances of electoral misconduct, Anyanwu pointed to discrepancies in the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) and criticized the INEC officers for aiding electoral malpractices, thuggery, and ballot box snatching. He also revealed personal attacks on himself and his deputy, Dr. Jones Onyereri, during the election, alleging a coordinated plot to destabilize Imo State.

Anyanwu concluded by addressing false accusations within his party, emphasizing the challenges faced during the election and the alleged state-sponsored violence against citizens.
