While expressing gratitude for the support received from the people, Shaibu stated, “I have fought the good fight for you, my people. Along the way, I suffered humiliations and enjoyed many moments of victory, but I am thankful in all things. I have been pressed but not crushed, persecuted but not abandoned, badly hurt but not destroyed. I resonate with the tireless and irrepressible spirit of the Edo people.”

The Deputy Governor’s remarks are perceived to be linked to the political tension between him and Governor Godwin Obaseki, his principal. Shaibu’s decision to vie for the governorship, with Governor Obaseki completing his second term in 2024, has sparked a political impasse in the state.

THE ABUJA TSUNAMI: Kwara Lawmaker Flees APC In Massive Political Showdown!

Published

on

Saba Gideon, the lawmaker representing the Edu State Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly and chairman of the House Committee on Livestock, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) citing a lack of internal democracy, fairness, and inclusiveness. In an August 19, 2026 resignation letter submitted to his APC Ward Chairman for Tsaragi Ward 3 and confirmed via a telephone interview in Ilorin, Gideon noted that the choice followed extensive discussions with his constituents and key stakeholders, though he has not yet announced his next political destination.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This defection follows a period of friction between Gideon and the state legislature, stemming from a three-month suspension imposed by the Assembly on December 18, 2025. Led by House Leader Abdulkadir Magaji and Speaker Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, the suspension accused the lawmaker of contempt and breach of legislative privilege for allegedly leaking a secret recording of a closed-door meeting. Rather than issuing a mandated written apology, Gideon challenged the suspension in court. In February 2026, the Kwara State High Court ruled in his favor, nullifying the suspension as unconstitutional and unlawful due to procedural violations and a lack of legal backing.

THE ULTIMATE DEFIANCE: VeryDarkMan Releases Explosive First Evidence After Police Dispute Kidnap Claims!.

Published

on

Social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has shared an initial video clip on Instagram captioned “My evidence number 1,” responding to the Nigeria Police Force’s challenge to back up his claims that certain security personnel act as “unknown gunmen” and tip off kidnappers about wealthy travelers.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The controversy began on Tuesday when VDM spoke as a panelist at the 66th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Port Harcourt. During the insecurity panel, he criticized highway checkpoints along major routes like Lagos-Abuja and Lokoja, alleging that officers profile well-off travelers and pass their details to criminal syndicates. He asserted that security agencies know the identities behind these violent crimes, stating, “There are no unknown gunmen anywhere. The military men are the unknown gunmen, the Immigration, the Customs, they are the unknown gunmen. Nobody else.”

Following his remarks, the police dismissed the allegations as unsubstantiated and challenged him to provide proof. VDM initially responded that he would only present his evidence if charged to court, doubling down on his claims that officers aid kidnappers. He has now posted footage showing paraded police officers, though the video lacks a detailed breakdown of how it substantiates his specific tip-off claims, leaving the core allegations subject to formal investigation.

The dispute has sparked widespread reactions both online and offline. During the NBA conference, VDM defended his invitation to speak—which focused on sharing frontline experiences with insecurity rather than lecturing lawyers on the law—and pointed to incidents like the abduction of a judge and community attacks in places like Yelwata. Meanwhile, the Presidency has publicly criticized the NBA for providing a platform for what it termed reckless allegations against law enforcement.
