The announcement of Oba Fagberade’s demise was officially made by the Obanikun of Otan-Ile, Bamiji Fayinminu. He conveyed the sad news on behalf of the entire Prince and Princess of Otan Ile, expressing the loss of Alayeluwa Oba Sunday Samuel Adegbemi Olatokun, Fagberade 1, Owa Afole Of Otan Ile.
In his statement, Fayinminu shared, “We shall miss Kabiyesi for his firmness, kindness, and love for his people.”
Sources within the palace also confirmed the passing of the monarch.
Following the news, the Otan-Ile Progressive Union (OPU) extended their condolences to the entire community over the loss of the revered monarch. Saliu Bello Bamidele, the OPU National President, acknowledged Oba Olatokun’s two decades of reign, noting his remarkable commitment and love for his people.
“The monarch will be greatly missed. OPU and the entire indigenes of Otan-Ile, both home and in the diaspora, pray that God grants him eternal rest, and his family and the entire Otan-Ile town find the fortitude to bear the loss,” added Bamidele.
