The meeting involved local government health authorities and stakeholders focused on COVID-19 vaccination and strengthening the primary health care system through improved data reporting.
The executive director emphasized that the sensitization program, supported by the World Health Organization (WHO) through the ‘Can Give’ project, aims to ensure accurate data reporting for health intervention programs in Kogi State. Dr. Emmanuel Bola, representing the executive director, explained that the goal is to enhance the accuracy of reports at the grassroots level, covering immunizations, vitamin administration, and various health interventions.
He expressed optimism that the training, involving 15 health workers from each local government area, would contribute to better data reporting of health intervention programs in Kogi State. He acknowledged WHO’s role in ensuring comprehensive training for stakeholders at the local government level, emphasizing the importance of accurate data collection.
Dr. Raji Muktar Toyosi, the state coordinator of WHO, assured that the workshop would empower Kogi State to generate high-quality data for effective health interventions. He highlighted the critical role of accurate data in planning for health interventions and explained that the “Can Give Project” aims to enhance stakeholder engagement and improve the accuracy of data reporting at different levels of the health system. The focus is on addressing discrepancies identified in data quality at health facilities and local government levels to ensure precise and well-captured information.
