Nigerians React As Governor Bello Threatens Dismissal Of Kogi East LG Chairmen Over Election Loss (Details)
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yayaha Bello has issued queries to eight out of the nine Local Government Chairmen in the Eastern Senatorial District, as they failed to secure a single local government for the All Progressives Congress in the recent Governorship election, according to Nivo News…CONTINUE READING....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The affected chairmen represent Omala, Ofu, Dekina, Ankpa, Olamaboro, Ibaji, Igalame/Odolu, and Idah local government areas. Sources indicate that the queries stem from a post-election stakeholders’ meeting where the governor expressed disappointment with the chairmen for their perceived failure to meet expectations.
Governor Bello reportedly questioned the chairmen on why the party performed poorly in their respective areas, despite being adequately mobilized with resources, including transportation logistics, before and during the election. The governor also voiced concern over allegations that the chairmen had received unspecified sums from the Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaib Abubarkar Audu, under the guise of “mobilization votes.”
Expressing dissatisfaction with the chairmen’s inability to deliver the expected votes, Governor Bello emphasized that the mobilization funds may have been misappropriated for personal gain, stating that a questionnaire would be sent to them for mandatory submission by midday on Tuesday.
While the chairmen’s tenure officially expires on December 12, 2023, there are indications that they may face removal before this date. Additionally, discussions are underway regarding the potential requirement for the chairmen to refund the mobilization funds they received prior to the election.
