Mamman Mohammed, the governor’s director of press and media affairs, revealed this in a statement provided to NIVO NEWS in Damaturu.
Expressing his reasons for leaving the PDP for the APC, Majakura cited the commendable efforts of the Buni-led administration in delivering infrastructure to his constituency, stating, “I want to join hands with you and support you in serving my constituency to improve the lives of my people.”
Yobe State House of Assembly Speaker Chiroma Buba Mashio commented on the lawmaker’s defection, saying, “Hon. Lawan Musa Majakura has demonstrated serious commitment to defending the interests of his people on the floors of the assembly.” According to Mashio, Majakura’s move to the APC is advantageous for both the party and the government of Yobe State.
It’s worth noting that in the 2023 state assembly election, Lawan Musa Majakura caused a significant political upset by defeating the then Speaker of the House, Ahmed Lawan Mirwa.
