Nigerians React As Middle Belt Group Sounds Alarm As Nigeria Gets Closer To Becoming A One-Party State

Published

on

The Coalition of Middle Belt Groups (CMBG) has issued a warning, expressing concern that Nigeria is gradually moving towards a one-party state under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu. The group asserted that the removal of opposition party members from their positions is indicative of a clandestine effort by “hidden fascists” with the objective of transforming Nigeria into a one-party dictatorship…CONTINUE READING....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The CMBG’s alarm stems from recent court decisions that ousted lawmakers affiliated with the Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State from the national assembly. Ben Omale, the convener of the group, condemned what he described as the actions of anti-democratic forces seeking to destabilize Plateau State and the nation as a whole.

During a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, Omale voiced his apprehension about the praise coming from certain quarters, particularly the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, hailing the court rulings as a manifestation of democracy in action.

In a statement, Omale emphasized, “What should be alarming to Nigerians and the global community, ladies and gentlemen of the press, is their intention to replicate this strategy in other non-APC states to ensure the party’s control over all states in the Federation within the next eighteen months. The Middle Belt is particularly at risk in this scenario, as we are likely to bear the consequences of any resulting insecurity from this risky experiment being conducted on Nigeria’s democratic foundation.

Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, has rejected assertions that he is breaching a zoning agreement that would supposedly limit Ebonyi North senators to one term. Speaking to the press in Abakaliki on Sunday, the Senator pointed to the precedent set by former Governor Sam Egwu, who successfully served two terms in the Senate, to argue that the alleged one-term policy lacks binding authority. Highlighting his own constituency initiatives and record, Nwebonyi stated he faces no serious competition for his seat and emphasized that public service should be defined by sacrifice rather than personal gain.

Additionally, the Senator expressed strong support for the APC’s prospects in Ebonyi State and lauded President Bola Tinubu for prioritizing infrastructure development in the South-East. ‘If Dem Born You Well, Call My Name!’: Aisha Yesufu Fires Back At Wike Over Failed NDC Bid

Published

Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has hit back at FCT Minister Nyesom Wike following his recent remarks regarding her unsuccessful attempt to secure the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial ticket for the FCT.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

During a gathering in Rivers State on Saturday, Wike had poked fun at the activist for her primary election loss, asserting that political success requires more than just media visibility and suggesting she struggled to navigate the realities of “ordinary NDC” politics.

In a sharp response posted to her handle, Yesufu challenged the Minister to address her directly, warning him that the consequences would be severe. “If dem born Wike well, make e call my name with his full chest! What Tambuwal did to him in 2022 will be child’s play,” she retorted.

Yesufu further turned the tables on the Minister by referencing his own political setbacks, specifically his failed bid for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential nomination in 2022. She alleged that Wike’s subsequent attempts to lobby for the vice-presidential slot were also rejected, and she accused him of sabotaging the PDP following his primary loss.

Maintaining that Wike lacks the moral authority to criticize her political experience, the activist indicated that she is waiting for him to name her specifically before she escalates her response. “Let me wait make the man get liver mention name! Then the man doing boi boi because he has to be in power to have authority will know those of us from Kukuruku empire of Edo State in South South no dey grovel,” she added.
