Obasogie, who stepped in for Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, received praise from Obaseki for his remarkable performance during Bendel Insurance’s 26-game unbeaten streak in the previous season. The governor emphasized that the call-up reflects the positive outcomes of sustained investments in the sports sector in the state.
In his congratulatory message, Obaseki stated, “Hearty congratulations to our own dear Bendel Insurance goalkeeper, Amas Obasogie, on your call-up to the national team, the Super Eagles ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qualifier games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.”
