The Transition Monitoring Group (TMG) has characterized the gubernatorial elections in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa states as relatively calm. The TMG chairman acknowledged that some polling units encountered isolated incidents of violence, particularly in Ayingba and Idah town in Ida local government areas. There were reports of a military-related fatality involving a political thug. Additionally, instances of vote trading were observed, such as in PU 010, Ekinrin-Ade, Ijumu LGA, and Imiringi, PU 002, Ward 008, Ogbia LGA of Bayelsa State.

The statement highlighted that despite the prohibited nature of vote trading according to sections 121 and 127 of the Electoral Act 2022, desperate politicians resorted to inducing voters with cash gifts ranging from N5,000 to N30,000, as well as distributing food items and clothing materials (wrappers) in certain observed polling units.

Commending the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the TMG chairman praised the timely arrival of election materials across the states, as well as the effective deployment and functionality of the Biometric Verification and Authentication System (BVAS) in polling units across the three states. Additionally, he acknowledged the high level of professionalism exhibited by security officials during the electoral process.
