Just In: Diri, Sylva, And Fellow Candidates Sign Peaceful Election In Bayelsa Guber Poll....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In preparation for the gubernatorial election in Bayelsa State on November 11, political parties and their governorship candidates participated in a peace accord signing on Wednesday, committing to a peaceful and violence-free election. The event took place at Lady Diama Memorial event centre in Yenagoa, the state capital, and was organized by the National Peace Committee in collaboration with the Kukah Centre.

Bishop Matthew Kukah, representing the National Chairman of the National Peace Committee, Gen Abdulsalami Abubakar, presided over the peace forum. He urged the people of the state to maintain a tolerant disposition during the poll, fostering a peaceful and credible electoral process.

Despite the peace accord, potential violations surfaced as prominent candidates Douye and Sylva traded accusations shortly after the ceremony. Both candidates accused each other of plots to undermine the peace accord, raising concerns about the effectiveness of the agreement.

Douye expressed skepticism about the efficacy of peace accords, considering them mere election rituals that some politicians fail to honor. He cited an accusation from the former governor of the state, who alleged that Douye Diri was stockpiling arms in Kolokuma-Opokuma, labeling it as false and indicating potential ineffectuality of the peace accord.

On the other hand, Sylva highlighted instances of violence perpetrated by the PDP in Kolokuma-Opokuma and expressed discomfort with the disposition of their opponent. He acknowledged the importance of the peace accord but expressed concerns about the reported stoking of violence by the PDP.

Despite the signing of the peace accord, both candidates emphasized the need for vigilance and urged other parties to abide by the agreement to ensure a peaceful electoral process.

The Ultimate Cover-Up? OGPF Fires Back, Brands NNPC’s Oil Licensing Response A Total Diversion.

Published

The Oil & Gas Professionals Forum (OGPF) has dismissed the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL)’s recent response to criticisms concerning the marginal field licensing round, labeling the statement as misleading and diversionary.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The forum asserted that the national oil company failed to address crucial concerns regarding potential conflicts of interest, the beneficiaries of the bidding process, and overall leadership performance under Group Chief Executive Officer Bayo Ojulari.

Previously, the OGPF demanded the removal of Ojulari alongside Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) Chief Executive Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, citing performance concerns and award controversies. In response, NNPCL stated that it operates entirely as a commercial entity under the Petroleum Industry Act 2021, holding no regulatory or asset allocation powers, which legally fall under the NUPRC.

In a fresh statement issued by convener Ayodele Momoh, the OGPF argued that NNPCL’s defense ignored core issues. The forum alleged that close associates of leadership secured allocations during the 37-block licensing round, raising questions about accountability and potential private gain. Furthermore, the group contended that recent improvements in oil and gas output metrics fall short of broader production goals, insisting that leadership accountability should be measured strictly against targeted milestones rather than marginal output gains.
