Two individuals in their twenties, Abdulrahman Sani and Ibrahim Usman, have been arrested for the unlawful possession of firearms on the Keffi-Nasarawa Road.
The confirmation of this arrest came from Peter Onche-Odaudu, the Nasarawa State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), during a press conference held in Lafia, the state capital.
According to Onche-Odaudu, officers from the Keffi Area Command of the agency were conducting routine patrols on the Keffi-Nasarawa Road on October 28, 2023. During one of these patrols, they conducted a standard stop-and-search operation on a commercial vehicle, leading to the apprehension of Abdulrahman Sani and Ibrahim Usman, who were en route to Nasarawa-Toto.
Upon inspection, a locally made pistol and one cartridge were discovered, concealed within a black polythene bag.
The suspects claimed that they had received the firearm from an individual named Sani in Tashan Yaro, Katsina State, with instructions to deliver it to a certain Babangida in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. They were promised a reward of N200,000, to be divided between them, upon successful delivery.
“They admitted awareness that the firearm in their possession was illegal,” stated Onche-Odaudu.
The NDLEA commander also noted that the suspects would be handed over to the police for further investigation and the appropriate legal proceedings.
Furthermore, Onche-Odaudu confirmed that, due to effective collaboration with other security agencies, at least four suspects have been transferred from NDLEA to the Nigerian Police Force between 2022 and 2023.
“In line with our strong inter-agency collaboration, for instance, between 2022 and 2023, we have transferred a minimum of four suspects from our agency to the Nigerian Police Force,” Onche-Odaudu mentioned.

Court Sentences Man to Four Years for ₦16 Million Money Laundering, Forfeits G-Wagon
A Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has sentenced Sunmonu Olasunkanmi Thaoban to four years in prison for laundering ₦16 million by disguising its illegal origins and converting it into a 2018 black G-Wagon Jeep.

Guilty Plea & Sentencing: Justice Akintayo Aluko handed down the sentence on Thursday after Thaoban pleaded guilty to a two-count EFCC charge, alongside an alternative fine option of ₦1.8 million.

The Offense: Prosecutors stated that Thaoban acted as a middleman in 2023, funneling illicit funds to purchase the luxury vehicle, violating the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

Asset Forfeiture: In addition to the prison term, the judge ordered the permanent forfeiture of both the convict’s G-Wagon and mobile phone to the Federal Government.

In a separate proceeding, Justice Aluko also convicted four Bureau de Change (BDC) operators—Umar Muhammad Lamido, Yusuf Musa Yusuf, Abdulmuhimin Mahmud, and Muhammed Musa—for conducting unauthorized foreign exchange transactions outside the official market. Following their guilty pleas, each received a 12-month prison sentence with an option of a ₦100,000 fine.
A Delta State High Court has handed down death sentences to two individuals for their involvement in the 2018 killing of Delta State University (DELSU) undergraduate Elozino Ogege, following a ruling that found them guilty. Meanwhile, a third co-defendant facing charges related to the same incident was discharged and acquitted.
