Lawyers And Activists Demand Action Against Politicians Exploiting Security Agencies For Personal Gain, Particularly Kogi State SDP Gubernatorial Candidate....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Lawyers and activists have united in their call for authorities to curb the exploitation of security agencies by politicians for personal gain, with specific attention directed towards the gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State. This collective group, operating under the banner of Lawyers and Activists for Good Governance, has a history of over 16 years in advocating for better governance. They have issued an appeal to President Bola Tinubu and relevant authorities to take measures against unscrupulous politicians who manipulate Nigeria’s security agencies for their self-serving and malicious purposes.
During a press conference in Abuja, these advocates, numbering around 500 and representing various regions of Nigeria, stressed the urgency of taking action to ensure peaceful and crisis-free elections, particularly in Kogi State. Their concerns were squarely aimed at the SDP and its candidate, Muritala Yakubu, whom they accuse of blackmailing the police and the Department of State Services (DSS) to obstruct their constitutionally mandated duties of safeguarding lives and property and combating criminal activities.
The activists initially became aware of this issue in July when it first came to light. Comrade Mohammed Sanni, a Co-Convener of Lawyers and Activists for Good Governance, emphasized that the SDP candidate had a history of conflicts with every Police Commissioner assigned to Kogi State and should be subject to a comprehensive investigation. He expressed their disappointment with the SDP’s recent press release, which attempted to discredit the police and DSS for executing their constitutionally mandated duties of providing security for politicians and voters. Sanni raised the question of why individuals, if suspected of committing offenses, shouldn’t be invited or arrested as needed.
Sanni clarified that ignoring police invitations is inherently a criminal act unless one has constitutional immunity. He stressed that no one, especially a candidate without constitutional immunity like Mr. Ajaka, is above the law, and it is unacceptable for any candidate to act as if they are exempt from legal responsibilities.
The activists reiterated their support for the police and DSS for their dedicated efforts in securing Kogi State and urged these agencies to remain steadfast in ensuring a peaceful election on November 11, while keeping a close watch on any individuals who pose a threat to the upcoming election. They implored the security agencies not to succumb to groundless blackmail but to continue carrying out their duties with professionalism and patriotism.
