A group of young individuals in Rivers State has gathered at the Government House in Port Harcourt to express solidarity with Governor Simi Fubara, who faces potential impeachment. On Sunday night, Rivers State came into the spotlight when the State House of Assembly was set on fire by unidentified persons amid an impeachment plot against Governor Fubara. Photos reveal heightened security at the Rivers Assembly complex, with numerous youths present at the location. The assembly has taken measures to suspend its Majority Leader, Hon. Edison Ehie, along with four other lawmakers known to be strong allies of the governor. During the governor’s visit to the Assembly Complex in Port Harcourt, he declared the removal of the five lawmakers, including Hon. Edison Ehie, as null and void. Governor Fubara emphasized that the removal would not stand, and he alleged that security personnel fired gunshots directly at him during his inspection of the fire-damaged State House of Assembly Complex.
