Nigerians React As IPOB Declares Itself Non-Terrorist After Enugu High Court Lifts Proscription
Nigerians React As IPOB Declares Itself Non-Terrorist After Enugu High Court Lifts Proscription....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) asserted on Saturday that it does not qualify as a terrorist organization. The statement was made by IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, who applauded the decision of Justice A. Onovo of the Enugu High Court to nullify the proscription of the separatist group.
IPOB criticized its proscription by Justice Abdul Kafarati as a “black-market” move. In 2017, Justice Kafarati had proscribed IPOB due to the group’s advocacy for Biafra and the possible breakup of Nigeria.
However, Justice Onovo recently overturned this ruling and ordered the Southeast governors to pay N8 billion as compensation to IPOB’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
In response, Emma Powerful expressed concern that many judges have been influenced to uphold injustices against IPOB members, thereby breaking the law. He argued that IPOB’s cases have revealed the shortcomings of Nigeria’s judiciary, which has subjected the nation to international ridicule.
Powerful stated: “We, the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), under the leadership of the remarkable and unwavering liberator, Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu Kanu, commend the historic judgment delivered by Hon. Justice A. Onovo of the Enugu State High Court on October 26, 2023, which has officially lifted the black-market proscription against IPOB.
“Justice A. Onovo has demonstrated to the world that there are still judges willing to uphold justice, even in the face of executive intimidation of the judiciary, particularly concerning cases involving IPOB in Nigeria.
“IPOB also commends its legal teams for their legal expertise and their unwavering commitment to providing legal services. IPOB’s lawyers are individuals who truly understand the law, not merely token representatives. They have consistently prevailed against the Nigerian government in its own courts.
“That is why the Federal Government of Nigeria has shied away from defending the baseless black-market proscription order by Justice Abdul Kafarati against IPOB in the Appeal Court. Nevertheless, the recent judgment by Justice Onovo of the Enugu State High Court has rendered the unjust black-market proscription order null and void.
“This latest judgment by Justice Onovo has cleared IPOB of the unfounded terrorist label that the Nigerian government unjustly imposed on the peaceful movement as a pretext for violent suppression. In the eyes of the law and the international community, IPOB is not a terrorist organization.
“Those who previously celebrated the black-market proscription inflicted on IPOB by the Fulani-led Nigerian government, orchestrated by a prejudiced Justice Kafarati, are now disillusioned, especially the compromised media outlets that associated and labeled IPOB as a proscribed organization.”
