Breaking: NDLEA Plans To Deploy Personnel In All 774 Local Government Areas Nationwide In 2024....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has announced plans to station NDLEA personnel in all 774 local government areas across the country in 2024. This initiative aims to intensify efforts in the fight against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking, particularly in local communities.
Marwa made this commitment in response to a request from Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda, the Governor of Katsina State, who sought greater collaboration and the deployment of more NDLEA officers in various regions of the state to address drug abuse and related security concerns.
Marwa stated, “With the Agency’s staff strength expected to rise to 15,000 by the end of the year, the next development was to deploy in the LGAs. We currently have zonal commands, state commands, and area commands. We want to go to the LGAs for the offensive action and the advocacy work. We would need more support to succeed. I appreciate the work of the Katsina governor as the challenges are numerous in governing the state. But if insecurity is a problem and is fueled by drugs, I believe we have to collectively take it out of the security equation.”
He applauded Governor Radda’s dedication to overcoming various challenges in the state and enhancing its socio-economic development.
Marwa emphasized the gravity of the drug menace, highlighting its devastating impact on the lives of young people and communities. He stressed that drug abuse is often a catalyst for criminal behavior, with a significant portion of criminals having a history of drug use. The NDLEA, under Marwa’s leadership, is focusing on an “offensive action” strategy to combat this issue, alongside preventive measures that include advocacy and sensitization at all levels.
Furthermore, he proposed the establishment of a state drug control committee, with the NDLEA serving as the secretary and the state’s First Lady as the chairperson, recognizing their unique position and influence in addressing the drug problem. This collaborative effort aims to tackle drug-related issues, reduce drug abuse, combat banditry, and promote the state’s economic development.
Governor Radda expressed the importance of a synergistic partnership between his government and the NDLEA to address the challenges of insecurity and drug-related issues in Katsina State. He emphasized the need for stronger cooperation to curtail the movement of drugs, apprehend and prosecute drug dealers, and ultimately enhance the state’s security and economic prospects.
