Jika Attoh, a distinguished broadcaster and communication expert, has sadly passed away. He breathed his last at POSH Hospital in New Haven, Enugu State, after a prolonged battle with an undisclosed illness. The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Enugu chapter officially confirmed his demise on Wednesday.
At the time of his passing, Attoh was reportedly living separately from his spouse, with whom he shared three children.
Attoh initially gained recognition through his work on the popular “Kaakaki” program broadcast on Africa Independent Television (AIT), an initiative established by the late Raymond Dokpesi. Later, he joined Cosmo FM, a radio station formerly owned by former Enugu State governor Chimaroke Nnamani. The station notably became the first broadcasting channel to provide 24-hour services in the eastern region of Nigeria following Attoh’s involvement.
In addition to his radio endeavors, Attoh also contributed his expertise to the state-owned Enugu State Broadcasting Service, where he made substantial improvements to the programming and overall service delivery.
Prior to his illustrious career, Jika Attoh served as a news anchor at Channels Television and held a teaching position at the West Africa Broadcast and Media Academy (WABMA), specializing in broadcast training and management.
