Timipre Sylva’s Reaction As INEC’s Decides To Omit His Name From Bayelsa Governorship Candidate List
Timipre Sylva’s Reaction As INEC’s Decides To Omit His Name From Bayelsa Governorship Candidate List....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Ahmed Raji, the legal counsel representing the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, has written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), requesting the immediate withdrawal of the amended list of candidates released for the upcoming poll. Raji argued that INEC’s decision to exclude Sylva’s name from the list was prejudicial.
The Federal High Court, Abuja, had previously disqualified Sylva from the election in a judgment delivered on October 9. In response, Sylva appealed the decision at the Court of Appeal. However, while the appeal was pending, INEC released an amended list of candidates for the election that did not include the APC candidate’s name.
In a letter dated October 25 to the commission, Raji explained that he had Sylva’s clear instruction to demand the immediate withdrawal of the amended list. He emphasized that it was surprising for INEC to release such a publication when the judgment it acted upon had already been appealed at the Court of Appeal. Raji further urged INEC to respect the judicial process and avoid taking any steps that could be prejudicial to any party involved, particularly his client.
