Former Bayelsa East Senator, Ben Murray-Bruce, has responded to the Supreme Court’s recent announcement regarding the 2023 presidential election dispute. The apex court has set Thursday, October 26, as the date for delivering final judgments in the petitions filed by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and his counterpart in the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.
Dr. Awemeri Festus Akande, the Supreme Court’s Director of Press and Information, confirmed this ruling date and assured that comprehensive security measures had been put in place to safeguard the court premises.
In a post shared via an unspecified platform, Ben Bruce appealed to all political parties and their supporters to acknowledge the Supreme Court’s verdict, emphasizing that the court’s decisions are final in matters of this nature. He called for an end to political disputes and encouraged unity to address the pressing issues facing the country, including the economy, the value of the Naira, and the challenges left behind by the previous administration of Muhammadu Buhari.
Ben Bruce further stressed the need for governance to take precedence over continual election-related politics. He suggested that Nigerians should no longer be at odds with each other but should focus their efforts on tackling security concerns, criminality, economic hardships, and divisions in the nation.
