The Trade Union Congress in the Federal Capital Territory (TUC FCT) Women Commission has highlighted the imperative of having more women in leadership roles as a means to address gender disparities and various societal aspirations. Sandra Nnenna Ogbonna, the Chairperson of the TUC FCT Women Commission, made this assertion during her welcome address at the Annual FCT TUC Women Commission Summit in Abuja. The summit, themed “Breaking Frontiers: A Transformational FCT,” aimed to address the challenges and opportunities encountered by women in a rapidly evolving world.

Ogbonna called for greater female representation in leadership positions across various levels of government and society, emphasizing the significance of the theme in the context of an ever-changing and interconnected world. She also stressed the importance of women overcoming barriers and realizing their full potential. The TUC FCT Women Commission is committed to fostering a more equitable and inclusive Federal Capital Territory (FCT) where all women have the chance to excel.

Comrade Audu Paul Akogwu, Chairperson of TUC FCT, underscored the importance of women’s empowerment in an evolving global landscape characterized by technological advancements. He noted that while these advancements offer new opportunities for women, they also bring fresh challenges that require thoughtful consideration. The TUC FCT Women Commission plays a vital role in striving for a more equitable and inclusive FCT, enabling women to achieve their full potential and make meaningful contributions to governance and society.
