Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of Service (HoS) of the federation, has refuted allegations of extorting N23 million from 92 applicants who sought to become permanent secretaries in federal ministries. The accusations arose from a report claiming that each applicant paid N250,000 for a one-week training program organized by the Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN). The Director of Communications in the HoS’s office, M. A. Ahmed, clarified that the training of civil servants was not within the service’s mandate. He stressed that the training was optional and that the report’s publishers should retract their statements and issue apologies or potentially face defamation lawsuits. Ahmed also emphasized the transparency of the process for selecting Federal Permanent Secretaries.
