Accompanied by his wife, Rev. Mrs. Eyoawan Otu, the event was attended by the state’s deputy governor, chief judge, speaker of the state legislature, and all State Executive Council members. The Governor conveyed his appreciation to both friends and foes.

In a jovial manner, he explained that he thanked his adversaries because “even where there is enmity; I love them, and because I love them and the Bible is very strict; that when a man lives according to the dictates of God, your enemies don’t have an option but to be in peace with you.”

Governor Otu emphasized that at 64, he felt as strong as a sportsman, and he thanked God for his good health. He regarded his government as a new family and called for unity, collaboration, and humility among his appointees. He encouraged his team to strive for excellence and make Cross River State prosperous.

The event featured various performances, including cultural dances, comedy, and Carnival revelers, offering a preview of what to expect during this year’s Carnival Calabar in December. The Chief of Staff to the governor, Emmanuel Ironbar, celebrated the governor’s journey and expressed gratitude for the governor’s positive impact on the state, giving hope and opportunities to many. He extended warm wishes for Governor Otu’s continued wisdom, strength, health, and long life.
