President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given his approval for the appointment of Jalal Ahmad Arabi as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). Arabi’s term is set for an initial duration of four (4) years, as announced in a statement on Tuesday night by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.

The outgoing Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, has been directed by President Tinubu to commence a three-month pre-retirement leave, in accordance with the provisions of Public Service Rule (PSR) 120243, effective from October 18, 2023. This arrangement will lead to his eventual retirement from service on January 17, 2023.
Alhaji Jalal Ahmad Arabi, the newly appointed Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), will take on the role in an acting capacity starting on October 18, 2023. His substantive term, covering four years, will commence on January 17, 2023.
Furthermore, President Bola Tinubu has sanctioned the dissolution of the NAHCON Board. The President has expressed his expectation that the new leadership of NAHCON will discharge their duties with deep reverence for Allah and unwavering adherence to the principles outlined in the Holy Qur’an.
