Nigerians’ Reaction As Police And DSS Personnel Descend On Ondo PDP Secretariat Amid Planned Youth Protest....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a development that has sparked reactions from Nigerians, police operatives and their counterparts from the Directorate of State Security (DSS) have conducted a joint operation at the Ondo Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The security personnel positioned their vehicles outside the party’s secretariat.
Kennedy Peretei, the spokesperson for the Ondo PDP, disclosed that the presence of these security operatives was aimed at preventing a scheduled peaceful protest organized by the party’s youth members. The protest was planned to demand information regarding the whereabouts of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who has been absent from the state since April 2023. Peretei also mentioned that the staff were denied access to the secretariat during this incident.
Concurrently, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) raised concerns on Sunday about alleged schemes by the PDP and certain APC leaders to provoke a crisis in the state. The APC assured that Governor Akeredolu would return to the state and emphasized that he has continued to fulfill his official responsibilities regardless of his location.

Super Falcons Elimination: Nigeria’s senior women’s team was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), ending hopes of automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
-
Flying Eagles Defeat: The Under-20 men’s team suffered a 4–1 defeat to Burkina Faso in the WAFU Zone B Under-20 Championship final, missing out on the 2027 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations and the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Reflecting on these results, former Olympic gold medalist Abiodun Obafemi noted a stark contrast between current national team camps and the unity, hunger, and transparency characteristic of past generations.
Arguments for Suspending the Elections
Former Super Eagles captain Segun Odegbami has strongly criticized the current football administration for failing to optimize Nigeria’s talent. Describing NFF elections as a repetitive cycle of crisis, he appealed to government leadership to suspend the scheduled executive committee elections to allow for comprehensive restructuring.
Supporting this stance, Monimichelle Sports Facility CEO Ebi Egbe argued that the current framework—where 37 of the 44 congress delegates are state FA chairmen—unfairly benefits incumbents and prevents genuine reformers from competing on an equal playing field.
Counter-Arguments and Calls for Legislative Reform
Conversely, sports administrator Ahmed Shuaibu Gara-Gombe dismissed the calls for suspension, attributing them to personal motivations and challenging past administrative records.
While opposing an immediate halt to the electoral process, Gara-Gombe acknowledged that the NFF electoral architecture requires modernization. He suggested that structural changes should be addressed properly through legislative action via the National Assembly rather than external disruptions, while also urging the National Sports Commission to clarify its stance on the matter.
