The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has conveyed its condolences to party elder and member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Prince Oluyole Olusi, on the loss of his wife, Alhaja Mariam Iyabo Olusi.
Mrs. Olusi, the mother of Prince Adetoyese Olusi, chairman of Lagos Island Council, passed away at the age of 77 on Saturday. Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the party’s chairman, described the late matriarch as a devoted wife and caring mother to her accomplished children, emphasizing her unwavering support for her husband throughout his political career.

In a statement released by the Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, Ojelabi noted that the deceased lived a long and controversy-free life and served as a mentor and role model for women, epitomizing love, duty, compassion, and a commitment to moral values.
He acknowledged that throughout her life’s journey, which included challenges, she faced occasional difficulties with remarkable courage, composure, and exceptional understanding. Ojelabi expressed his condolences to the widower, Pa Olusi, recognizing that he has lost a life partner whose place in the Matiku Sanusi Olusi family cannot be filled.
He also extended sympathies to the sons, Adetoyese and Sola, who are both prominent members of the ruling party, urging them to find comfort in the fact that their beloved mother left behind a legacy of virtuous values within the family and the broader society.
Ojelabi concluded, “I received the news of the passing of our amiable mother, Mama Mariam Iyabo Olusi, wife of our great party leader, Papa Prince Tajudeen Olusi, with great sadness. She was a devoted wife and a cornerstone of her husband’s successful endeavors in politics, government, community service, and religious engagement. Our leader has lost a life partner and an invaluable supporter, but we take solace in her meaningful life and the legacy of love, compassion, and duty she leaves behind. May her soul rest in peace.”

According to an official statement released on Sunday by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Yinka Oyebode, the termination affects all Special Assistants (SAs), Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), and Technical Assistants (TAs).
The statement clarified that the move is part of a gradual transition as the administration winds down its first term ahead of Governor Oyebanji’s second-term inauguration on October 16, 2026.

Speaking in an interview with Vanguard, Duke explained that true subsidy occurs when a product is bought at a high price and sold to consumers below cost. He argued that since crude oil is Nigeria’s collective resource, domestic fuel pricing should reflect what it costs to extract, refine, and distribute the oil locally.
