Super Eagles Defender Kenneth Omeruo Optimistic About Winning 2023 AFCON....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Super Eagles veteran defender, Kenneth Omeruo, is confident that he and his team will emerge victorious in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

In his capacity as the interim captain of the Super Eagles, filling in for the absent Ahmed Musa, Omeruo believes that the Nigerian squad possesses all the necessary qualities to secure victory in the 2023 AFCON.

The last time the Super Eagles claimed the AFCON title was in South Africa in 2013, meaning that they haven’t lifted the trophy in a decade. Prior to that, they won the tournament in their home country in 1980 and again in Tunisia in 1994.

The team has adopted the mantra “Let’s Do It Again” in preparation for the 34th edition of the tournament, set to take place in five cities across Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, 2024.

During the draw ceremony, which took place on Thursday night, October 12, the Eagles were placed in Group A alongside the host nation, Ivory Coast, as well as Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.

In an interview with the NFF media team, Kenneth Omeruo explained that the team’s “Let’s Do It Again” motto reflects their aspiration to claim a fourth Africa Cup of Nations title in Ivory Coast.

He stated, “I think the group we find ourselves in matters because in football, you ought to be in an easy group to come out on top, and from there, you can progress. But, like I said, if we have a winning mentality, it doesn’t matter which teams we face. I am excited and looking forward to knowing our opponents.”

He warned against dragging the state into fresh tension, accusing the state government of attempting to revive old allegations for political advantage.

Adewara said the PDP would not remain silent while what he called “political narratives” are used to influence public perception around a tragic incident that claimed multiple lives in Offa in 2018.

He also urged residents, especially affected families, not to allow their pain to be used for political gains, insisting it is unjust to associate Saraki with the crime.
