Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU) in Malete, has officially addressed the speculations surrounding a possible increase in tuition fees at the institution. During the inauguration of the 7th Student Union, Professor Jimoh assured students and their parents that there are no plans to raise tuition fees at KWASU.
He emphasized the commitment of the state government, led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to providing access to high-quality tertiary education in the state and commended the governor’s visionary leadership for maintaining the current tuition fee structure. Currently, indigenous students pay N150,000, while non-indigenous students pay N250,000 in school fees at KWASU.

Professor Jimoh acknowledged the economic challenges facing parents and sponsors of students, which have led to fee increases in many other universities, and urged students to appreciate this goodwill by conducting themselves peacefully and making the most of their educational opportunities.
He also congratulated the newly elected student union executives and stressed the responsibility entrusted to them. In his inauguration speech, the Student Union President, Soliu Kolapo Abdulkadir, reaffirmed his commitment to serving all students, irrespective of their backgrounds, with the goal of advancing the institution.
Students, responding to the development, expressed immense relief at the decision.
